A councillor turned to Google in the midst of a meeting as councillors decided which remits it would support at the annual Local Government New Zealand conference.
The conference is being held from July 15 to 17 in Christchurch.
As part of the conference, all councils will be invited to vote on remits.
There are 12 up for discussion this year, and Whangārei District Council decided which of those it would support during a council meeting at the end of last month.
Councillor Cherry Hermon carried out an in-chamber Google search to learn more about copper in brake pads as the council voted not to support calls for legislation to limit or eliminate copper in brake pads.
