Asphalt will start to be laid on the new roundabout on State Highway 1 through Whangarei from the end of next week, with the road down to one lane at night while the work is completed.
Work is continuing towards finishing the upgrade on Western Hills Dr (SH1) between Kensington Ave and Manse St, with the final road surface due to be laid on another section next week.
From Friday, February 17, NZ Transport Agency will start laying asphalt from Kohatu Rd including the roundabout at the Kensington Ave intersection.
The work which is expected to take 10 days, will be done at night, starting at 6pm and finishing by 7am each morning. During the night works SH1 traffic will be limited to a single lane, with the Kensington Ave intersection closed to all traffic.
By 7am each morning SH1 will be returned to its normal layout and the intersection with Kensington Ave reopened.
