A truck delivering flowers to an Onerahi business was stuck after failing to make it up a driveway during peak hour traffic. Onerahi police were called to Whangarei Heads Rd when a truck blocked off traffic about 8am yesterday.
Onerahi Community Constable Spence Penney said a truck delivering plants had tried to make a righthand turn into Hammer Hardware but had become stuck as the drive was too steep. The truck was left with some wheels totally off the ground while the rear dug into the road.
Another passing truck stopped and was used to pull the stuck vehicle free. Fulton Hogan contractor Derek Browning was passing and, with help from Mr Penney, the holes left in the road by the truck were quickly covered over. Traffic was diverted around the site until the road opened about 9am.
