These young triathlon stars (pictured) from Otaika Valley School also received special recognition at a school prizegiving for their efforts in training for and completing the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon.
Parent Pam Locke said the TRYathlon kids trained for half an hour before school each day, along with pupils who were not doing the April 10 event, but loved the training.
Ms Locke said as well as all the benefits of increased exercise, the training had engendered a sense of team spirit.
"I am so proud of them and their commitment and enthusiasm."
The prizegiving honoured all pupils who trained, with standout students who consistently trained daily getting to wear their own superhero cape with their initials on the back.
