The trial of a man accused of murder has started in the High Court at Whangarei.
Michael John Paewhenua, 27, is standing trial in the court charged with the murder of Moses Noor Mahanga, 25.
Mahanga died of a gunshot wound on October 4 last year as he sat in the driver's seat of a car parked in William Jones Drive near the entrance to Fishbone Park.
The trial, before Justice Rebecca Edwards and a jury, started on Monday morning and is scheduled to last three weeks.
