Northland volunteer fire fighters have honed their skills for dealing with car accidents, plane crashes, water rescues and other emergencies at a two-day camp.
The 55 firefighters were put into teams and dealt with nine emergency fire scenarios as part of the Northland Sub-association Dargaville Fire Camp last weekend. Twenty instructors were also involved.
Whangarei/Kaipara assistant area manager and one of the fire camp organisers Wipari Henwood said it was an opportunity for newer members to familiarise themselves with a variety of incidents.
"It gives them some experience. What they do in a weekend could take a lifetime of experience," Mr Henwood said.
"For the people who participated their skill levels have definitely improved."
