No one was hurt but the contents of a small furniture truck are unlikely to be unscathed after it flipped on its side.

The fully loaded, northbound truck took the tumble on State Highway 1 at Hikurangi at about 6.45am yesterday morning.

No other vehicles were involved although other road users had to take fast action to avoid the overturned truck when the crash occurred.

Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane and southbound traffic diverted through Hikurangi township until about 10am when the hired household removal truck had been hoisted upright and towed away.

Meanwhile, traffic was diverted off Riverside Drive after a car collided with a power pole about 3pm. The powerlines hung just off the ground so police deemed it unsafe until attended to by North Power workers.

Two adults and three children were able to get themselves out of the vehicle with one woman taken to hospital with moderate injuries. Traffic was diverted around the scene through Memorial Drive and Mackesy Rd. Last Thursday, a 53-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a car on the intersection of Riverside Drive and Mackesy Rd.
