Trevor King and Kerry Mitchell held on to win a thrilling final of the Olly Batger Doubles Tournament at Mairtown Tennis Club on Saturday.
The Mairtown/Kamo combination and the Kamo pairing of Todd Morgan and Paul Sykes kept the spectators on the edge of their seats for the marathon encounter, with King and Mitchell finally winning 16-15.
It was a fitting end to the well-contested men's division-one doubles competition that is one of the highlights of the Whangarei senior tennis calendar.
Ollie Smith and Sue Gwither won the women's doubles title in another close match.
The Mairtown club secretary combined with her old playing partner from Auckland to beat Vicky Hick and Delwyn Houlihan 9-7.
