A cameraman from the television crime show Police Ten 7 could not believe his luck when he found himself in the thick of a police chase involving a stolen car in the Far North.
The film crew had just spent three days filming in Kaitaia and were heading south to Kerikeri on Saturday when police spotted a stolen Subaru STI heading north towards Kaikohe.
The car was reportedly seen being driven dangerously and at high speeds into and around Kaikohe. It was found a short time later after crashing on Mataraua Rd, just west of the town. Police arrested the driver at the scene while the film crew said the incident provided "some of the best footage ever".
Any witnesses are urged to contact Sergeant Sarah Wihongi at the Kaikohe station, (09) 405 2960.
Police Ten 7 producer Sarah-Luise Whatford said the footage would "absolutely" be screened on the crime-busting show.
