Two teenage boys driving a luxury car were found with more than $2 million of drugs in the back seat, according to police.
The 17- and 18-year-olds were arrested driving a Mercedes Benz from Northland to Auckland last month as part of a covert operation targeting members of the Head Hunters gang.
Around 2.5kg of methamphetamine was found in the car, which has a street value of between $2-$2.5 million.
More than 30 members or associates of the motorcycle gang have been arrested in raids across multiple police districts when the detectives from the Organised and Financial Crime Agency of New Zealand terminated the investigation this morning.
A clandestine lab discovered in Northland was able to produce 3kg of methamphetamine each week, according to a police source.
