Northwave duo Hayley McIntosh and David Van der Star have been jointly awarded the Northland Swimmer of the Year Award after their deeds during the last season could not be separated.

McIntosh, 15, collected the highest Fina points of all the Northland swimmers at the 2014 New Zealand Age Group Championships, while, Van der Star, 18, came home with the highest Fina points amongst the Northlanders at the 2014 New Zealand Open Championships.

In addition to sharing the Swimmer of the Year award, Van der Star came away with another seven awards, while McIntosh won another six.

Both also broke a huge number of Northland age group and open records during the season.

Other repeat award winners included Northwave's Callum Prime with seven, Ellie Eastwood with four, Matthew Gordon with two, and Josh Young with two. Meanwhile Whangarei's Samantha Bailey took away five awards as Bream Bay's Ruby-Lee Beckham picked up three.
