More people are being named and shamed in Northland's courts as the rate of name suppression drops across the country.
The reduction comes after a law change in 2012 which put greater restrictions on who qualified for name suppression.
Documents released to the Northern Advocate under the Official Information Act show the number of people given name suppression is the lowest in Northland in seven years.
So far in 2014 no one has been given final name suppression in the Whangarei District and High Courts, with only 10 given interim name suppression.
This can be compared to 2008 when 24 people were given final name suppression and 21 people had interim name suppression.
