Sunny weather won't grace Northland until later this week as an approaching low is forecast to bring more showers heading into the weekend.
An easterly flow means a few showers tomorrow and Thursday, especially on the east coast, before a low pressure system approaches from the Tasman Sea.
MetService meteorologist Claire Flynn said although the low would not come near Northland, its impact would result in scattered showers for most of the week.
Last weekends' rain was caused by a moist northeasterly flow which brought humid air from the tropics that dumped nearly a month's worth of rain in two days over parts of the region.
This air was then pushed away by a cool southerly change, she said.
