Blomfield Special School's new transition building is a "happy" building that students love.
The transition building is for students aged 16 to 21 to assist with the transition from school to the wider community.
"A transition building needs to treat the people using it like adults as much as possible," principal Sally Wilkinson said.
"It needs to give them a good amount of independence in what they can do." She said the new building aimed to teach important life skills, such as cooking and fitness.
"It's a base from which they can do work experience, and access the community."
