Whangarei's new war memorial and relocated Cenotaph will host a tribute to the district's 600 war dead every night until Anzac Day, April 25.
A spirited tribute to Whangarei's war dead will be played at the new war memorial in Laurie Hall Park.
Shortly before 6pm every night the flags at the new memorial and relocated cenotaph will be lowered - at 6pm the Whangarei District Brass Band will play the Last Post to honour the 600 names on the memorial.
Cadets will then read an ode to the war dead and read out some of the names each night. Members of the public will be invited to place a poppy at the memorial.
