The brolly may be needed across Northland over the next few days with MetService issuing a severe weather watch for the region.
Unsettled weather is expected over New Zealand for the coming week, with a series of troughs moving across the country.
MetService said with a frontal feature passing over Northland and the rest of the upper North Island this evening and tomorrow morning, there is a possibility of downpours.
The front may stall for a few hours and rainfall could approach the short duration warning criteria of greater than 50mm in 6 hours in some localised areas within Northland, Auckland, the Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty.
Further heavy rain is possible later tomorrow as the front moves back through these regions.
