Kamo survived a late try frenzy from Mid Northern as the defending champions were downed 38-27.
Kamo's Bryce Williams considered his side lucky as time was in their favour, but was pleased to get the result.
"We were really lucky in the end," he said of Saturday's win.
'It's beena reasonable start to the season but it's been a slower one with the teams we've played - it has sort of built the boys' confidence up a bit." Williams was quick to reflect the attention from individuals onto the team. "Tyler [Lansdowne] and Roy [Griffin] have been standing out, Mac Sykes has been as well, [but] we've got a good squad so everyone is playing really well."
He added that after having suffered a big loss to Waipu to kick off the season, Kamo had grown and improved.
"We started off with Waipu and had a big loss, which was a big eye opener for us - you don't know where teams are at from season to season. [But], we're just getting better week to week."
