Wreckage from the helicopter that crashed in Glenbervie Forest killing two men will undergo further extensive scrutiny in a bid to find the cause of the accident.
Two investigators from the Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) have spent two days in steep bush-clad terrain analysing the wreckage and crash site of the Robinson R44 helicopter.
Monday's crash killed Derek Hammond, 49, of Kauri, and pilot Allan Jessop, 42, from Tangiteroria, just after 2pm.
Local company Sky Works airlifted the remains of the aircraft out on Thursday afternoon in four loads. It was then taken by truck to a secure location in Whangarei for further analysis before being transported to the commission's technical facility in Wellington.
Investigator in charge Sam Stephenson said the helicopter was in dense bush a short distance by foot from a four-wheel-drive forestry road.
