Roadworks planned for two main Whangarei roads

Motorists in central Whangarei can expect delays over the next week or so as two of the main routes out of the city undergo roadworks.

Sections of Hatea Dr and Riverside Dr will be resurfaced.

The work on Hatea Dr, which began yesterday, stretches from the Discovery Settlers Hotel to Nixon St and is expected to be completed by Wednesday next week, September 20.

The work will be during the day from 9am to 9pm, with the exception of night works on Friday, September 15.

A council spokesperson said the work was scheduled maintenance to keep road surfaces in good order.

The work is being done during the day because milling is very noisy and the area on Hatea Dr is residential so night work has been minimised.

Work will be done one lane at a time, and there will be stop/go signs in place to ensure traffic flow.

On Riverside Dr the work is scheduled for today and tomorrow between Vale Rd and Bluff corner.

That work will be done between 6am and 6pm.

One lane will be open at all times and the site will also be under traffic management.
