On Easter Saturday the Rebels Motorcycle Club held an open day to mark the opening of their Porowini Ave, Whangarei headquarters. Almost immediately as the news broke, Northern Advocate readers responded. The overwhelming response: We want them out.
Today, we've announced the Rebels are moving out of their Porowini Ave headquarters.
The question now is, where they will go? - Craig Cooper, editor
All those against, say 'aye' ...
I think that we should close them down. What is the council thinking let p selling gang members so close to a day care and a school. What a joke.
Don's let them into Whangarei good on the police they have my support - from a social biker who owns a harley they giving us all a bad name - 2 words f*** **f
Lock all the rebels up, there just gnna make everything worse, drugs and violence, your money an your women is all they want, they just don't care.
Me and my family live on Morningside we are so disappointed this has happened and I kno the neighbourhood feels the same way. Its like some1 has built a toilet cos its left a read bad smell.
How did they get in country immigration asleep I fear 4 our grandchildren.
Get rid of them!
Our troubled youth are at risk if the rebels come in contact with them, luring them n earning there trust and then change the rules so they can go out n2 the community 2 do criminal stuff, by then the youth r that entangled n there is no way out. I fel 4 the youth n 2days society every thing is about the labled gear and who is stronger n the rebel gang wil thrive on that. We dnt need them here nor do we want them here.
Rebels need 2 get lost. Whangarei is bad enough as it is.
Now the Morningside homes will never sell. Get rid. So close 2 a school as well.
I agree with the police. Get rid of the scum rebels. We don't need them in our community.
Wot about head hunterz an black power, they dnt gve charity thre al the same bt tribsmen an rebelz gve sumting back. But XXXX them all call the police they got army as bak up. TEE ALATA
My family and I r not happy. We are selling our home this year who's going 2 buy it now. What real estate sold them the building? Police move them out.
If the rebels came from Oz 2 recruit & they are criminals with records how come they were allowed in2 NZ?
Get rid of them, our town doesn't need them. Id like 2 know wot public support they have, because out of 10 people ive talked 2, none of them want them here, "shoot them" was the most common comment said. Says a lot doesn't it?
We need 2 get rid of the rebels. A nice club does not need balaclava clad thugs guarding its gate. And shame on those businesses who leased, hired nd rented equipment to these people. As a community we need 2 let them know they are not welcome in our town.
I reckon the rebels should go back to bloody aussie stick to the main black power mongrel mob gangs. Piss off rebels!
Do these rebels have jobs? Or are they just dole bludgers? I think we should know. We all need to work with the police to watch them. Police hotline a good idea.
Giday. All gang members are scum in NZ. They're always trouble. No matter where. There's far too many already.
Lv what there shirts said ... like us or hate us ya better get used 2 us.
Who sold/rented property 2 them bouncy castle big deal we don't want any more gangs in north.
Hi, yes the rebels sure seem identity confused, patched criminal bikers who are charitable, family friendly nice guys! Guess therapy may help? But we don't need/want their bad, unwell influence and out dated drama!
We as adults don't condone sex offenders next 2 creches why are we condoning gang members with multi convictions. How can we teach r kids rite from wrong?
I witnessed some of there intimidating riding in town and blatantly riding round the outside of qued traffic forcing oncoming traffic to move over
O.M.G the rebels. What a childish name.
Rebels r antisocial rebellious thugs who r not there 4 our youth cos if they were they would b in plain tshirts and jeans asking our youth 2 respect their parents and care 4 themselves and others and 2 show them how 2 do that without patches and intimidation.
Hedlines "We're a club and not into drugs". Yeah right! If u believe that u betta watch out 4 flying bulls and wet stuff on yer head. PMTwist.
I wonder if the rebel gangs top man is a wealthy businessman from Whg. Cld be a lawyer, realestate manager etc, etc. I'm fearful 4 my grandchildren nd frenz
If the rebels are good guys then why do they have 1% on their patches, it means they are the 1% of the population that don't abide by the law.
Send them back 2 ozy 2 much crime here anyway.
Michael Laws we need you! Come and show us how to get the Rebels out of Whangarei please!
Out mtrcycle clubs. D'nt nd thm, d'nt wnt thm, nw or nvr.
Any1 who dosnt think the rebels have an agenda just read the book above the law.
If u r a parent with morals an bring up ur kids with the right inner strength, gangs wudnot exist, so look at ur past, fix it, so our future generation is strong enuf to get on an live life the rite way.
The gud folk of Morningside area o looking Porowini Ave shud now band 2getha and take a class action suing that gang for the loss of value on their properties they hav now suffered bcause of the gang presence.
Shame on ya whangas people ... cnt work it out ... racists ... da rebels open da club 2days eveb4 da Anzacs.. Nd u want 2 drive these people out ... Cos of societies govt here & abroad. OMG dats stratification of people.. shame on you..
And all those in favour ...
What a waste of tax payer money would like to know how much operation cost to have more police than members there over whole weekend over kill bigtime
Wat a load a croc! Leve them b. 2 me az I passed them a lot on sat, harmles looked like a reunion. I luv the vases outside the place. Neighbour
All this talk over wot the rebels could do2 my home town of 45 years, and never do I see our own local gangs getn chased out after all the damage theyv caused. Only God has the right2 judge.
Don't judge pple, police only being judgemental. Why have they got a building? If you dnt wnt thm here.
U know what! I am so anoyd hearn bwt ppl n the police pikn on da rebels! Their ok in mi books and uz r jst lookn 4 antha reasn to moan! 1st waz solo mumz nw rebels? Wat nxt the grass aint green enuf?
Why dnt u disblvrz leave da rebels alne? Their algudz da ones that r the bad 1s r da ones that lyke to judge otha ppl! Lyke da 1s in blue!
Leave them alne! U judgemental ppl their algud the worst ones rda 1s n blue.
Tha rebels r hea 2 stay I rkn Craig Cooper cn go get XXXX on evry 1 elses opinion giv them a chance nstead of judgn a book by its cover they mite do gud 4 tha community.
Stop making a big thing outa nothing. Liberated society, leave da rebels alone til theres a need. Heres my view on the Rebels motorcycle club. Let them be who they want to be, at the end of the day they're still our brother, father, uncle, granddad & a police man's cousin. Lets all not be judges, a Rebels motorcycle club was formed in Mangere, south Auckland in 1985. NZ government, slap yourselves, how come you are having problems eliminating already established gangs.
