READER FEEDBACK: Rebels - the backlash

On Easter Saturday the Rebels Motorcycle Club held an open day to mark the opening of their Porowini Ave, Whangarei headquarters. Almost immediately as the news broke, Northern Advocate readers responded. The overwhelming response: We want them out.
Today, we've announced the Rebels are moving out of their Porowini Ave headquarters.

I think that we should close them down. What is the council thinking let p selling gang members so close to a day care and a school. What a joke.
Don's let them into Whangarei good on the police they have my support - from a social biker who owns a harley they giving us all a bad name - 2 words f*** **f
Lock all the rebels up, there just gnna make everything worse, drugs and violence, your money an your women is all they want, they just don't care.
Me and my family live on Morningside we are so disappointed this has happened and I kno the neighbourhood feels the same way. Its like some1 has built a toilet cos its left a read bad smell.
How did they get in country immigration asleep I fear 4 our grandchildren.

Our troubled youth are at risk if the rebels come in contact with them, luring them n earning there trust and then change the rules so they can go out n2 the community 2 do criminal stuff, by then the youth r that entangled n there is no way out. I fel 4 the youth n 2days society every thing is about the labled gear and who is stronger n the rebel gang wil thrive on that. We dnt need them here nor do we want them here.
Rebels need 2 get lost. Whangarei is bad enough as it is.

My family and I r not happy. We are selling our home this year who's going 2 buy it now. What real estate sold them the building? Police move them out.

We need 2 get rid of the rebels. A nice club does not need balaclava clad thugs guarding its gate. And shame on those businesses who leased, hired nd rented equipment to these people. As a community we need 2 let them know they are not welcome in our town.

Hi, yes the rebels sure seem identity confused, patched criminal bikers who are charitable, family friendly nice guys! Guess therapy may help? But we don't need/want their bad, unwell influence and out dated drama!

If the rebels are good guys then why do they have 1% on their patches, it means they are the 1% of the population that don't abide by the law.

Stop making a big thing outa nothing. Liberated society, leave da rebels alone til theres a need. Heres my view on the Rebels motorcycle club. Let them be who they want to be, at the end of the day they're still our brother, father, uncle, granddad & a police man's cousin. Lets all not be judges, a Rebels motorcycle club was formed in Mangere, south Auckland in 1985. NZ government, slap yourselves, how come you are having problems eliminating already established gangs.
