Hundreds of people got the opportunity to get an inside glimpse of how police operate in stations across Northland.
About 600 people went through Whangarei Police Station as part of a national open day on Sunday. Other stations open to the public were Dargaville, Kaikohe and Kerikeri. There was aqueue at Whangarei half an hour before the roller doors opened at 1pm, with plenty more visiting during the two-hour open day.

The armed offenders squad had their kit, including guns, on display along, with displays from the police negotiation team, recruiting and Blue Light. Trainee police dog Xyke also entertained the visitors. The tour took in the police cells and the district command centre - the nerve centre of Northland policing.
