People's Choice award for community sport 'Good Sorts' closing soon

There are only a few days left to vote for your favourite candidate in the Northern Advocate's People's Choice Award for community sport "Good Sorts".

Votes have been streaming in ever since the poll opened on Friday and every one of the five finalists have received a great deal of support from their communities. The race for the top spot is incredibly tight with only a few votes separating the top three contenders.

People can vote for their favourite by sending an email with their preferred finalist in the subject line to sports@northernadvocate.co.nz or go to the online voting poll from the link which will be on our Facebook page and in the online version of this story. To use the voting poll, all you need to do is enter your name, click on the person you wish to vote for and click send.

To recap, our finalists for the award are:

- Raewyn Heywood: Tennis Northland

- Derek Browning: Tane the Taniwha

- Sharon Carroll: Parafed Northland

- Vicki Macdonald: Whangārei Academy of Gymnastics

- Belinda Edwards: Northland Rugby Union board

Voting will close on Sunday, March 10 at 5pm, when the votes will be counted and the winner announced at the Northland Sports Awards on Friday, March 15.
