A famously outspoken Far North politician has inspired a new work of art.
A sculpture at Kaikohe art and craft gallery Passion8 has been catching attention for its uncanny resemblance to Mayor Wayne Brown - except perhaps for the horns.
Called Kaikohe rocks! Let's mine it, the sculpture had been stored in a back room but last week moved to the front window.
It is made of plaster, Permafill and cow horns, with a set of $2 shop beads used for mayoral chains.
Kaikohe artist Jill Reilly said the artwork was inspired by a Far North District Council Long Term Plan meeting when Mr Brown suggested Kaikohe needed to "get over itself".
