Opposition leader Simon Bridges is calling Government Minister Shane Jones a hypocrite for criticising Air New Zealand one day, and then attending the Air NZ co-sponsored dinner with Barack Obama the next.
"None of what Mr Jones says changes the fact that he's accepting very significant corporate hospitality from Air NZ. One day, he's happy to slag them off. The next day, he's happy to take their steak and wine while listening to Obama.
"There's a word for that in Parliament that begins with 'h' that you're not allowed to use, but Shane Jones is a hypocrite."
Jones, the Regional Economic Development Minister, is one of several MPs attending the Barack Obama dinner in Auckland tonight, which is co-sponsored by Air NZ.
His attendance follows days of fiery words directed at Air NZ for cutting its regional flights to Kapiti and Kaitaia, and yesterday suggesting Air NZ chairman Tony Carter should be sacked and chief executive Christopher Luxon should butt out of politics.
