One dead in single-vehicle crash near Kaikohe, Northland

Police can confirm one person has died following a a single-vehicle crash in Northland yesterday.

Emergency services responded to the crash in which a car collided with a tree in Kaikohe.

A police spokesperson said they responded to the accident around 5.30pm on Te Pua Rd, near State Highway 1.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the person died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

The road was blocked and diversions were in place.
