New Zealand's women's Black Sticks will play for a bronze medal after a thrilling Olympic women's hockey semifinal against the Netherlands.
After 85 minutes, including extra time, the scores were drawn at 2-2 meaning the match went to a shoot-out to decide the match.
In the end it was heartbreak for the Black Sticks who went down 3-1 in the shoot-out.
A 49th minute strike from Krystal Forgesson handed the Black Sticks a brief lead before the Dutch team expertly converted a penalty corner to even things up with 15 tense minutes to play.
Gemma Flynn then made the final ten minutes interesting after she received a yellow card - however, the Kiwis held on to force the match into extra time.
Earlier, Kayla Sharland gave New Zealand a perfect start, scoring after just seven minutes from a penalty corner.
Both sides had opportunities to score in what was an open first stanza but it was the Netherlands who finally converted a chance three minutes from the break to even the scoreboard.
