Two Northland schools have scooped awards for their Stage Challenge performances which both tackled tough subjects.
The nationwide Stage Challenge tour involved more than 14,000 participants from 180 schools across the country.
While no Northland schools placed in the top three, Whangarei Girls' High School and Bream Bay College scooped two awards for their performances which tackled difficult topics.
Whangarei Girls' High School was awarded the Ministry of Education National Award of Excellence for Concept for its performance titled A Decision of Difference which follows the heart-wrenching decision a mother has to make upon learning that her child will be born with a severe intellectual disability.
