Northland is the place to be to celebrate the start of 2014, with fine weather forecast for the region over the next few days, with a slight risk of showers, but plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures.
MetService media and communications meteorologist Daniel Corbett said tomorrow - New Year's Eve - will have temperatures of up to 25C, with plenty of sunshine, though there is the possibility of a few showers around the region.
"You could be the place to be to bring in the New Year with fine weather for the night and the temperature at midnight to bring in 2014 about 16C, so it will be a good night for celebrating," he said.
Wednesday will see more sunshine with the first day of 2014 expected to bring temperatures of up to 25C again, before there's likely to be a few showers overnight, leading into Thursday.
"The showers will be more blink and you'll miss them then Thursday will be another great day for you, with highs of 25C-26C. So it's a great start to 2014 for Northland and it's one of the places to be really to bring in the New Year," Mr Corbett said.
