No new mumps cases
There have been no new cases of mumps in Northland since 10 cases two months ago raised concerns an outbreak could occur. That was the highest number in Northland in several years but did not amount to an outbreak, unlike the situation in Auckland where 740 cases this year have been reported.
People are still being warned to be vigilant. "We are very aware that given our proximity to and many with close connections in Auckland, it is reasonable to expect some exposure," Northland Medical Officer of Health Dr Jose Ortega Benito said.
