Friends of Matakohe Limestone Island are on the lookout for rabbits to use in their stoat traps. Preferably frozen, these can be taken off your hands at a variety of drop-off locations around Whangārei, or collected from home. Send a private message to the Matakohe Limestone Island Facebook page if you are someone who may be able to help.
Gala of grooves
The Whangārei Record Fair will be hosted at 2A Kamo Road (the Anglican Parish Hall) this Saturday, October 28, from 10am until 4pm. The free-entry event will give music enthusiasts the opportunity to find that record they’ve been looking for. Eftpos is available on-site, and Beagle Radio DJs will be playing live sets on the day.
Freshwater feedback
Northland Regional Council wants public feedback from November 1 on a draft Freshwater Plan Change that includes new rules and targets to improve the health of Northland’s rivers, streams, lakes, wetlands and groundwater. Changes to the way freshwater is managed are a requirement of the Government’s National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management 2020, which directs that freshwater health be maintained and improved where it is degraded. Go to www.wai-it-matters.nz for more information and to give feedback, or email freshwater@nrc.govt.nz.
