Northport is again offering tours for anybody interested in its vision for potential growth of the port at Marsden Point. General tours are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays only and can be booked from the port's dedicated Vision4Growth website which outlines what growth there might look like.
Tours for groups of over 10 people can be arranged for Saturdays in discussion with Northport management. Visitors must have valid photo identification when they arrive for the tour.
No decision has yet been made by Northport's Board on how to extend the port but the company published the Vision4Growth website in February last year to launch a public discussion about its potential future size and shape.
Ngāpuhi hapū hui
Whangārei is set to host the next Ngāpuhi hapū hui at Te Puna o Te Mātauranga Marae, Raumanga Valley Rd.
This hui comes following the successful Ngāpuhi hapū hui hosted at Kohewhata Marae in January this year which saw more than 300 Hapū members gather to discuss a pathway forward for Ngāpuhi.
More than 70 per cent of Ngāpuhi hapū voted no to the Evolved Ngāpuhi Mandate Proposal prepared by Te Rōpu Tūhono. "Tūhono process is over, as hapū we are now reconciling internally how to move forward, the Ngāpuhi Hapū Hui support maintaining connections as whanaunga while not undermining individual hapū rangatiratanga," said Huhana Lyndon, hapū kaimahi. The hui will start at 10am.
