Northland is in line for five days of unseasonably fine weather, with temperatures set to hit a Spring-like 20C.
MetService meteorologist Cam Coutts said, after Wednesday's front brought heavy rain to much of the country, a westerly flow was descending on the country today that will bring drier and warmer conditions, particularly for Northland.
"The northwest winds ahead of this front help push temperatures into the high teens and early twenties for eastern centres, mainly on Saturday. Northland, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay are looking like the warmest spots," Mr Coutts said.
"Eastern parts of Northland can expect highs of 19C, 20C and possibly higher, while the west, like Dargaville, will get highs of 17C to 18C, still spring-like for the region. Basically five days of fine weather with plenty of patches of sun."
However, he said, there would be periods of rain among the finer weather.
