"It's a big territory to cover from Wellsford to Kaitaia. Time and space are our biggest challenges, so we definitely do go the extra mile.
"This is a well-deserved win for the Northland team. They all work incredibly hard and are consistently focused on delighting the customer at the door.''
Compaan and his wife Rhonda, who isn't directly involved in the business's management, bought the regional franchise in 2011, having seen rapid growth and great potential in the courier industry.
Only a year later, in 2012, the franchise won the same award it received this month, and last year was named myFastway.co.nz. Brand Ambassador after that facility's 'soft' launch.
Compaan also won the much-coveted Customer Delight Award in 2018, which is awarded to a team or individual who understands the importance of customer satisfaction.
The Northland franchise tops the rest of the country because of the drivers' pride in their service, he said.
''We've got a very good team of local drivers and franchisees. Even though we're part of a huge global company, we know our people, communities and region.''
Fastway was purchased by international delivery and post company Aramex two years ago.
''It's opened up many doors to us worldwide. We can get into 220 countries now.
''We've always been proud of our national service but not so long ago it was 'how can we get this from Whangārei to Invercargill as quickly as possible?' Now we're getting to Australia in three days, door to door.''
Fastway Northland has three depots - Waipapa, Kaitaia and Whangārei.
Technology has also opened virtual doors, with Fastway offering customers online accounts and delivery orders (myFastway.co.nz).
The latest award was presented at the Fastway Couriers New Zealand conference in Taupo earlier this month.
Fastway Couriers chief executive Scott Jenyns said the Northland team epitomised all the values and hallmarks of what it takes to be the best in the competitive courier industry.
"They are dedicated, team focused, think outside of the square, and embrace the values of the business.
"Carl leads one of the most supportive teams in our network and he is constantly re-evaluating the business, questioning the outcomes and striving to find new ways to increase performance and grow."
Jenyns said Compaan is a strong believer in empowerment and ownership, and worked closely with the courier franchisees and staff, holding regular training sessions to not only reinforce the Fastway system, at which they excel, but to introduce new incentives and rewards.
Fastway Northland is also a strong supporter of the local community, he said.
"They work tirelessly, and I mean that literally, to support local charities and events in their region.''
