Information wanted
Kerikeri police are hoping someone can shed light on an incident near the Stone Store on Sunday. A member of the public called around 11.30am to say an elderly man was hitting three children aged 12-14 with a stick or bat. The children then got into a dinghy and rowed away. Call (09) 407 9211 if you can provide police with information.
Fair trade celebration
A Whangarei fair trade store will join hundreds of organisations in a one-day celebration of how consumer power can benefit communities around the world. Trade Aid shops and customers are holding The Global Party on Saturday, along with 450 fair trade organisations in 75 countries. The event celebrates the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) network which helps people around the world improve their lives through trade. "When you support us in any way, you are creating a fair trade ripple effect around the world," says Trade Aid Whangarei manager, Hazel James. Customers are invited to the Strand Arcade store between 10am and 2pm on Saturday.
