Tomorrow's 176th Bay of Islands Pastoral and Industrial Show, at Waimate North, will feature all the usual trade displays, competitions, children's rides and entertainment, along with Savouring the Source, but there won't be any dairy, beef or calf club events, thanks to fears of spreading Mycoplasma bovis. Children have been invited to turn up with their pet lambs instead.
Suspects to re-appear
Two Northlanders facing a charge in relation to the death of a gang member will re-appear in February next year. Doyle and Hayward-Dodd are on bail and will re-appear in the High Court at Whangārei for a callover on February 21.
Armistice Day unveiling
A plaque will be unveiled at the site of a community planting effort which commemorates all those who served and continue to serve New Zealand on Armistice Day. In September, as part of Keep New Zealand Beautiful's clean-up week, 80 people joined forces to clean up and plant 700 trees and plants at Fishbone Park. The event was organised by F.O.R.C.E alongside Whitebait Connection, Whangārei District Council, Whangārei RSA, Te Uru Rākau, Keep New Zealand Beautiful and other groups. The ceremony will be held at the site this Sunday, on the Puna Rere Drive corner of Fishbone Park at 1pm.
