Visitors to Northland's popular Kai Iwi Lakes are set to enjoy new toilet block as well as a campervan dump station after approved funding from the Government.
Work is due to start in the next month on a new toilet block at Lake Waikare and a dump station for caravans at Pine Beach.
The new facilities will be built at a cost of $140,500, with $90,500 from MBIE, that was initially applied for through the Tourism Infrastructure Fund, but was since moved into the Provincial Development Unit, and the rest from the council.
The lakes are an increasingly popular destination, and the Kaipara District Council said it was thrilled the additional funding would allow the project to get under way and to better meet the needs of visitors.
Lake Waikare on the other side of the Domain from Pine Beach is becoming an increasingly popular location for events.
