If anyone understands the concept of sowing some seeds and watching them grow, it's rural business people who are hoping that a new networking group in Northland will help business thrive.
Farmers and rural professionals now have a networking event of their own in the region, with the launch of the Northland Rural Business Network.
Up to 70 people packed into the Barge Showgrounds Events Centre in Whangarei last Tuesday evening for the first of the quarterly events, which aim to motivate and inspire business people working in primary industries and associated support services.
National RBN co-ordinator Daile Jones told the Advocate that rural business people appreciated a chance to network in a space where nobody was asking them to buy anything.
She said the networking events gave people a chance to catch up and share knowledge and leads, such as referrals for everything from bankers and accountants to other support services.
The events, being organised in association with the Whangarei Agricultural and Pastoral Society, will also feature prominent guest speakers.
