There were no surprises in round two of the Premier Reserve Netball Championship, with the closest result being a 46-42 win to Wahine Toa.
While Manawanui Red challenged Wahine Toa early on, leading by three goals at the half time, by three-quarter time Wahine Toa had fought back to be ahead before going on to win by four.
For Wahine Toa on Saturday, the defensive combination of cousins Rita and Renee Himiona at goal keep and goal defence were a force to be reckoned with and they were ably assisted by Addy Campbell at wing defence. Telitha Everitt at wing attack played a strong driving game delivering the ball to the shooters with speed and accuracy.
The combination of Barbara Te Whare at goal shoot and Maria Dick at goal attack was effective and they played with skill and confidence.
For Manawanui Red, Kiri Allen at goal attack had an accurate shooting game and overall a good game. Allen linked well with Raina Smith who had a great game at goal shoot until she moved to goal keep and goal defence to cover an injury where she also played well.
