There's something in the water in Otaika Valley. But whatever it is, it's helped recent Northern Mystics signee Megan Craig realise the sky's the limit.
Standing at 2.03m, and with a wing span of 2.1m, Craig hasn't ruled out the possibility that a love of water has seen her spring to such towering heights.
"I drink a lot of water and I don't want to sound cliche but I did eat a lot of vegetables, like spinach and broccoli, so that might have had a little influence," she said of the diet which saw her reach new heights. Now the ANZ netball championship's tallest player, surpassing Jhaniele Fowler-Reid (1.98m) and Romelda Aiken (1.96m), Craig's hiding no illusions her height is a contributing factor to her inclusion in the 2016 Mystics lineup.
The 22-year-old, who played her junior netball at goal shoot and goal keep for Kamo High School before taking up a basketball scholarship at Albany State University in New York and representing the Tall Ferns, is upbeat about the tall challenge.
"Obviously I've been a bastketballer since high school but the opportunity came up and I had to take it," she said.
