The Northland Car Club has dubbed their hosting of a leg of the Northern Rallysprint Series as a success, highlighted by a local man sitting first early.
Northlander Scott Ogle enjoyed top spot after the first run, beating some of the North Island's top rallysprint drivers.
Ogle went on to be the top-ranked driver in the 1301-2000cc class at the event, letting his fastest overall tag slip.
Also finishing top of their class was Northlander Barry Armiger in the 2000cc+ class. Other Northlanders to have credible finishers were Maungatapere's Patrick Malley - who finished third in the 4WD class, followed by fellow Northlander Carl Adnitt who was fourth - and Brendan Oakden, seventh in the 4WD class also.
Northland Car Club publicity officer Alan Strong, who finished fourth in the 1601-2000cc class, said there was only a few mishaps from drivers, with Daniel Walker going through the fence on his third run and breaking only a park light.
