A section of State Highway One, at Otaika, above, is being resealed during the night over the next two weeks.

Resealing of State Highway One at the southern entrance to Whangārei is expected to cause minor disruption to motorists as the night time work is carried out.

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists of planned resurfacing of SH1 in Otaika south of Whangārei, starting next week.

The work will be carried out at night from 7pm to 5am when it will cause least disruption to traffic flows, the Transport Agency's northern system manager Jacqui Hori-Hoult said.

The work - between Rewa Rewa Rd and Mt Pleasant Rd - is scheduled for March 12-14 and will continue from March 17-19.

"As with all roadworks, the dates are weather dependant as effective sealing requires dry conditions," Hori-Hoult said.

"The new seal will be across the full width of the state highway and traffic will be down to one lane with stop/go manual traffic control and temporary speed limits in place.

"Motorists driving through Otaika are asked to slow down to the temporary speed limit to ensure the safety of road crews and allow the new seal to settle."

The Transport Agency said motorists should plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey on these nights.
