A Kerikeri man who grabbed a building inspector by the shirt and dragged him out of his house has been fined $1000 for assault.
On June 12, 2014, two Far North District Council building inspectors went to a house Michael Paul Wilson was building after he had asked for a pre-lining inspection.
The inspectors spent 90 minutes reviewing the timber framing - an inspection Wilson considered unnecessary as his engineer had earlier said the framing complied with the building code, Kaikohe District Court was told.
When the inspectors finished, they told Wilson there were aspects that needed to be completed or corrected.
The building inspector who was assaulted told Wilson to stop work until both inspectors came back within the week.
