The new chief executive officer of Te Runanga A Iwi O Ngapuhi is not new to holding leadership roles within the iwi but says she is humbled to lead the organisation.
Lorraine Toki, of Ngapuhi descent, will start the role as CEO next Monday, replacing Tony Dowling who resigned from the position in January for health reasons.
Te Runanga A Iwi O Ngapuhi chairman Raniera Tau said Toki brings "excellent senior management credentials" to the role.
She is a consultant and lead adviser to a number of national iwi organisations and has held executive positions at the Crown Forestry Rental Trust, and Tuhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority - the group with Crown mandate to negotiate Treaty claims.
"Her career has been committed to Ngapuhi kaupapa and Te Tai Tokerau, always at the forefront of initiatives to progress our people," Tau said.
He said the Runanga looked forward to Toki leading the operations team, enhancing performance and developing new initiatives that ensure a brighter future for all Ngapuhi communities.
