Logging truck catches fire

Police attended an incident where a logging truck caught fire on Pipiwai Rd this morning.

A driver escaped unhurt after the logging truck he was driving caught fire in Northland this morning.

The accident happened on Pipiwai Rd about 11am.

Police, three fire appliances from Whangarei and Kamo, and a St John ambulance are at the scene and motorists heading north are turned back.

Firefighters have contained the blaze and are trying to contain about 400 litres of diesel from going into a nearby stream.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
