Continuing remedial work has further delayed the reopening of Kamo Wildlife Sanctuary until after Christmas.
Park owner Bolton Equities will spend more than $1 million building new enclosures and upgrading existing ones to comply with regulations laid down by the Ministry of Primary Industries.
The ministry first ordered the park closed to the public between July 1 and July 31, 2014, while the animal enclosures were upgraded to meet new standards.
The closure was then extended until August 31 the same year. But three years later the upgrade has still not been finished.
Bolton trustee Laurie Margrain last week could not give an estimated time on when the remedial work would be completed but it would not be before Christmas.
