Portland kept in touch with the leaders of the Rugby League Northland MultiKai Cooker Premiership with a tight 38-34 win over Northern Wairoa.
Portlands win means they stay in touch with the likes of Takahiwai and Otangarei, who both had wins as well.
Otangarei continued their strong form with a decent walloping of Muriwhenua 60-8 while Takahiwai dealt Hora Hora their second heavy defeat in a month 98-nil.
In the other MultiKai Cooker Premiership Hokianga came out on top of Kerikeri 44-20.
Hikurangi and Moerewa had a bye this week.
