Cyclone Pam did not live up to the big warnings when it hit Northland in mid-March but did result in one old launch sinking in Matauwhi Bay, Bay of Islands.
Northland Regional Council Maritime staff were able to remove 300 litres of fuel on board before it leaked and the owner has been issued with a formal wreck removal notice.
Two other vessels also sank while moored during the Cyclone.
One was a yacht at Onerahi in Whangarei Harbour with the owner arranging for the salvage of the vessel and its removal from the water.
The other was an out-of-service fishing boat in Houhora Harbour later salvaged by the owner's insurer.
