Huanui College went about learning the sport of lacrosse hands-on as they competed in the Auckland Secondary Schools Championship for the first time, having never seen or played in a game before.
Huanaui lost their first games against Mt Roskill and Avondale College 3, 3-2 and 2-0 respectively, however in their third game they walloped Western Springs 10-0.
The win meant they crossed over to play Avondale College 2 and again won, this time 2-1.
Huanui's last game was against Auckland Girls' Grammar School which they lost 1-0 in what was a well-fought game.
For Huanui, the main aim of the day was to see how the sport was played and experience the different playing positions and establish the sport of lacrosse as a sport option for the girls in the future. During the competition, Huanui had had three brave volunteers to be goalkeepers - Ashleigh Greenhalgh, Holly Cook and Summer Campbell. The top shooter for the team was Ella Rankin who scored four goals.
