Kiwi music legend Midge Marsden will play in Northland next month in what is expected to be his final year of touring.
Marsden will play at the aptly named Marsden Estate, in Kerikeri, on March 27, supported by former Whangarei guitarist, and one of the country's busiest musicians, Chet O'Connell.
Marsden needs little introduction. He was New Zealand Entertainer of the Year in 1990 and the following year his album Burning Rain went gold. He has toured the United States four times, has played with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bobby Mack and Ronnie Taylor, and has been recognised by his country for his musical contributions.
But he says that after 50 years of "treading the boards" this most likely will be his final year of touring.
O'Connell has shared the stage with guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel and has been involved with opening for artists such as Dr John, Joe Cocker, Kenny Rogers, Cher and many more. He also enjoys his own solo career.
