Kaitaia woman Jessica Neho has beaten considerable odds to qualify for a job with demands that few can meet.
Ms Neho, daughter of Graeme and Daphne Neho, last month qualified as an aviation rescue firefighter with Auckland Airport Emergency Services.
After seven years in Queensland as a travel consultant, Ms Neho, inspired by a family member in Airservices Australia, returned to Auckland when an opportunity arose at the airport.
The selection process took three weeks to complete. During that time, candidates underwent physical and mental tests.
The news she made the grade, with four men, was followed by a 13-week course.
